Exit 8-bit Game Boy

INTRODUCTION

Exit 8-bit Game Boy is a demake and homage to the modern 3D simulation game Exit 8. The game is essentially a 'spot the difference' game held over eight rounds. If you successfully identify the "anomaly" from exit 0 to exit 8, you escape and win the game!

This game does not replicate Exit 8 anomalies so there are no (intentional) spoilers.

DIFFICULTY

Exit 8-bit has three levels of difficult and 36 different anomalies of varying difficulty. The anomalies may be fairly obvious or more subtle.

GAME MECHANICS

The game is essentially a 'spot the difference' game held over eight rounds. If you successfully identify the "anomaly" progressing through exit 0 to exit 8, you escape and win the game.

If you fail to spot the anomaly on a given exit you start again at exit 0. Each exit may have an anomaly or may not! You can see what exit you are on by looking at the sign above you when you enter a scene.

CONTROLS

All you need is the left and right d-pad buttons.

If you spot an anomaly: walk left until the scene ends

If you don't spot an anomaly: walk right until the scene ends

To change the music use SELECT.

ADVICE IF YOU FIND IT TOO HARD

The key is developing a consistent sequence of recognition when walking through the scene where you're not so much spotting anomalies as checking things are as they should be.

COMPATIBILITY

The game is for the Game Boy Original and should be playable on any Game Boy or emulator that can play .gb files.

A .pocket file is available for the Analogue Pocket

On some handhelds you can copy the zip itself. This will ensure the .gb file doesn't get corrupt.
